ETemplate™ is the number one digitizing technology for digital field templating ("as-built" measuring). It is widely used in the woodworking, solid surface, laminate, and stone countertop fabrication industry.
ETemplate's 3D Photo Digital Measuring System uses photography to develop an accurate CAD-based template from sets of digital photographs. With ETemplate's 3D Photo, you don’t just measure from point A to point B, taking each measurement separately. It measures the entire space; you collect accurate measurements for every point to point measurement you need plus many other measurements that you may need later back in the shop!
With ETemplate's 3D Photo Measuring, your entire staff can see what the jobsite looks like even though they have never been there - you don’t need to go back to the jobsite to remeasure or get another look to verify a design question. All of the information is in the photographs taken when you measured. Every photo collects 500,000,000 measurement points and a complete visual of the jobsite. You digitally & visually take the jobsite back to you shop with you. It’s all in the photographs and, “a photograph is worth 1,000 words.” You can pick any additional measurement needed from the photographs.
ETemplate projects a highly professional image for your company and expedites the field measuring process. With it, you eliminate field modifications and rework because it assures accuracy by measuring every point multiple times and verifying each measurement against the others.
The ETemplate system is widely used by millwork companies who do custom cabinets, circular stairs, helical rails, and many other architectural millwork applications. Its methodology eliminates the human element that makes mistakes and makes measuring complex curves and angels just as easy as measuring a straight line. The camera measures what it sees. Whether it is a quad-archway or a simple arched window, it is measured with a high level of detail and accuracy. ET-3D Photo exports dxf for any CAD and AutoCad based program for cabinet design and has an exclusive export capability of the ord format for CabinetVision and Cabnetware (Planit Solutions).
It is also excellent for templating countertops. Whether new construction or a remodel, the technology allows for the detailed accurate data to be taken. For remodels, there is no need to remove the existing countertops. It gets you in and out of a customer's house in 30 minutes or less with no mess. Remodel customers don't have to live without the use of their kitchen while their replacement countertops are being fabricated.
At the job-site, the templater simply marks the job using special markers and shoots several digital photographs of the layout from various angles. Next, in the field, or back at the shop, the photographs are downloaded to a PC for processing using ET-3D Photo's software suite to convert them into a CAD-based digital template in dxf format.
ETemplate works for any shop whether fabricating manually or with CNC technology. Using digital photography for templating speeds up the fabrication process and provides a complete pictorial history of the job. All information is in digital format and is stored in your computer and out of the way. The need for making a physical template in the field is completely eliminated. Photographs provide valuable information that may be needed long after a templater has measured a job and forgotten about the significant details that may be needed later in the fabrication shop to correctly make the top.
Photo processing time for an average job requires from 8 to 10 photos and photo processing time is usually two to three minutes. With ETemplate's Process Center, the CAD drawing for a countertop is automatically completed and includes all-important data such as overhang, radius, dimensions, and flatness. It also BackPlots the finished template back into the photos.
With BackPlot™, the completed template is overlaid onto the project photos to examine for design and fit. This enables final review and sign-off by a customer prior to going to production. Other important jobsite information can be included by writing it on a white board or pad, and including it in the photos. Photos and/or the finished template can be e‑mailed.
